Amanda Fludd LCSW-R

A little something about me.

I’m a New York based Clinical Social Worker, born in Trinidad, W.I., and raised in Brooklyn. I completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Connecticut (where I also ran Track and Field). I then obtained a Master’s in Social Work at Fordham University, with post-graduate work at Adelphi University.

In the past 15 years, I’ve worked in various settings such as schools, outpatient clinics, and psychiatric facilities as a Trauma professional trained in Trauma-Focused CBT, EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy informed therapy.

In our community, there is currently a significant need for minority-based well-trained therapists. With that in mind, I’ve since expanded into Private Practice and Mental Health Training & Consultation with the sole purpose of bringing exceptional care to underserved communities, particularly for people of color. I have had the privilege of supervising clinicians and students, developing programs, mentoring women in business, and even the honor of teaching as an adjunct professor with Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service.

I love my work and might be one of the few people that get excited to hear other people’s problems. Our mental health is our wealth, and I’m determined to achieve that in multiple capacities.

I certainly get that life can be tricky. It’s challenging, exhausting, and overwhelming, and you know that best because you’ve been striving to be happy every day, all the while secretly miserable or overwhelmed. I know you want to do well but can’t turn down the negative noise in your head or tolerate the panic rising in your chest or the sadness trailing you. Balancing quarantine, school, friends, even laundry, and your feelings seem impossible right now, and it’s probably even harder to explain. If you want your life to look like what you know you are capable of, you are not alone. I am here to help, and so are the members of the team at Kensho Psychotherapy Services.

Therapy is challenging, the growth is rewarding, and it doesn’t mean you are “(insert label here).” Together we will collaborate, set goals, try solutions, and gain skills to navigate life and change the narrative of Mental Health.

How can we make this happen? Call: 347-868-7813 or email and let’s talk. There is nothing more powerful than a changed mind.
